| Nobrega's Inc. History |
| Nobrega's Inc. was originally established in 1948, by Joseph and Mary Nobrega, in Cambridge, MA. It was originally named Nobrega's Mill End Store and was later renamed Nobrega's Discount House. After the success of their first store they created a new store in another location. They built another Nobrega's in Chelsea, MA, on the Revere Beach Parkway. The business originally started as a yard goods store. After Mary was asked several times to sew curtains for people, Joseph decided he could make a more efficient business by selling already made home goods instead of having his wife make them from material. The first store, in it's Cambridge location, suffered a major fire on July 14, 1997. The only remaining Nobrega's location is on Route 16 in Chelsea, MA. Nobrega's is now run by Mary and Joseph's 2 sons, Richard J. Nobrega and Robert Nobrega. At Nobrega's, we work hard to keep cost down and try to keep some aspects of the business old fashioned because it has always worked for us. |
